Behind The Booze:

Although the name has somewhat disappeared into history, Elijah Craig was actually the name of a reverend who lived in Virgina in the Late 1700′s. For those who are into the history of whisky making this may be a refresher, but, his tragedy has forever changed the way whisky is made today. Short sweet and to the point, the story goes that at one time he owned a warehouse where he stored barrels when one day, the warehouse was consumed by a devastating fire – even though the barrels were charred he still used the casks, which imparted a lovely visual and flavor character never before experienced. This 12 year old batch specifically took his name, Elijah Craig – and another fantastic spirit was added to the Heaven Hill line.

The Cigar Nut

The title says it all – for me this has been the month from hell! I don’t want to bore you all with the details – but suffice to say I have resigned from my position at the bank. No ranting or cussing on this one guys, can’t burn a bridge you might have to cross later. Then to throw another wrench into things, Jen and I will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary in Colorado! We will be there the second week of October, flying into Denver, staying near Breckenridge in a cabin, ziplines in Vail, hoofing it North West to Kremmling then up to Estes Park, staying the night and ghost tour at Stanley Hotel ( thats right, the Shining bitches ) then cutting back across the East side of the Rocky Mountain National Park through Boulder, past Denver and staying the night in Colorado Springs. If all goes well, she might even agree to us going up Pikes Peak!

Behind The Stick:

I don’t know about you, but when I hear the name Zino I immediately think high class, expensive, and great delivery – not only because of the name but because only in my short 6 to 7 years of cigar smoking history, I’ve never experienced a bad cigar from this company. Running with that prior expectations and to add a few more – the Master Edition 2010 was released to only a select few merchants in March of 2010 with 1,200 tins being sold in the entire Country but was also boasted by Zino as being another ‘exceptional Master Edition Cigar release’. I received this cigar from @cigarsthomas and it has been sitting in my humidor for a good 4-6 months, lets see how this bad boy does! Thank you again!!

Behind The Stick:

Ah hah – Finally a cigar thats a little harder to find, a little more special and has a reputation to follow it, although not always a good one. This is a Viaje ‘Limited Edition’ Holiday Blend 2009 – more of a limited production though, being that only 3000 cigars ( 100 boxes of 30 ) were produced for the 2009 year release but the ‘Holiday Blend’ Series was also released in 2010 and hushed words have talked about a 2011 release as well. Since they were a little harder to come by I was only able to secure a single for this review – Thank you again Eric! One of the biggest reasons that I am looking forward to reviewing these is that I have been able to keep from smoking mine for almost a year now – I can’t keep up the self control any longer!
