Four Hands Brewery Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown

Behind The Booze:

Some of you may know that I live in St. Louis, Mo so what better way to start ‘beer reviews’ than with a local selection? A little information taken from their site ( http://www.4handsbrewery.com ) “4 Hands Brewing Company, located in the LaSalle Park neighborhood, will provide the craft beer enthusiast a handcrafted portfolio inspired by the American craft movement that pushes the limits of creativity. Our barrel -aging program will produce a truly unique line on beers. The use of wine and spirit barrels containing an array of fruit, herbs, and spices in conjunction with wild yeast strains will enhance the flavors to produce a one of a kind beer.”

The schpeal sounds good and The Oatmeal Brown is listed as one of their ‘core’ beers – lets see if the Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown lives up to the companies standards or if this is one of those ‘unique names’ to stay away from.

Diesel Wicked

Behind The Stick:

With a wild name like ‘Wicked’ I immediately had two visions – one of devilish goblins running around, the second of some people from Baaaston talking about the ‘new wicked ride at tha paak’. Neither of these are correct though – it appears that Aj Fernandez and the Diesel name are leaning more towards Shakespeare and the Macbeth play, using direct quotes on the cigars and the box. While there still has not been a huge amount of background story on the line, the Diesel Wicked is slated to be their new powerhouse, some circles comparing it to the Unholy Cocktail and some of the Unlimited blends. Although I don’t buy into the hype ( or at least I try to tell myself that ) I am pretty excited to try this latest edition from Diesel!

Cigar Press Release : New La Sirena – Dubloon

La Sirena Dubloon

Miami, Fl June 7th, 2013 – In a recent expedition to Lake Nicaragua, which archelogists feel was once a large bay alongside the Pacific Ocean, a discovery was made. The dangerous mission to find treasures of the mermaid was met by sharks and other seemingly out of place aquatic animals. On the last day, in one of the deepest parts of the lake a cave was located with treasures of the mermaid.
